Simon, 2020

I have been supported and nurtured whilst working alongside passionate and inspiring teachers who prioritise child-centric teaching and learning above all else.

The Yarrow Schools Teaching Alliance course is quite simply the most enriching and engaging route into teaching and I would not hesitate to recommend it.  From the very start of the training programme, I have been supported and nurtured whilst working alongside passionate and inspiring teachers who prioritise child-centric teaching and learning above all else.

The course is well structured and supported by training from Lancashire's Senior Consultants. This route into teaching allows you to fully immerse yourself in the day-to-day life of your placement school(s) as you develop professional relationships with mentors and pupils and become a valued member of the school’s team. This places you in a unique position as an adaptable, flexible and resilient teacher.  Despite the most recent national lockdown, I have remained in school, gaining valuable and crucial experience whilst delivering education to children both in school and remotely.  I could only have achieved this with the support I, and the rest of this year’s cohort, have received from the leaders of the YSTA who see us as valuable teaching professionals who are encouraged to ensure that the children in our care reach their full potential, which is what they absolutely deserve.
